Sparta Community Celebrates the Holidays with Lights

The Sparta community will have a parade and lighting ceremony on December 4, 2015

Sparta, WI – Join the Sparta Community as we kick off the holiday season on December 4, 2015 in our downtown on Water Street starting at 6:00pm. This year’s Parade theme is “Celebrating Kriskindlmarkt- an old fashion German village”. Reinhard Mueller is the parade marshal for the event. The floats will proceed from Franklin Street down Water Street to Oak, and then follow the road down to the Evans Bosshard Park for the official lighting of the park.

The Sparta Community Holiday Group has organized hundreds of volunteer hours to ensure Sparta has the best lights in the area. They also are providing free hot chocolate and treats for everyone that comes down and enjoys the festivities.

The lights will be on thru Dec 31. Santa and his helpers though, will only be here on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. There will be greeters collecting food for the food pantry and concessions for your enjoyment as you sit by the huge bon fire on Friday & Saturdays also.
New this year is a Kriskindlmarkt in Sparta’s historic downtown. Seven booths with vendors will be open from 4-8pm on Friday, December 4th and from 10am-8pm on Saturday, December 5th. They will also be open 4-8pm on Friday, December 11th and Saturday, December 12th from 10am-8pm for holiday gift ideas and community gathering.
