Event Description:
There will be a benefit bake sale, raffle, silent auction and poker run for Henry Haas.
On Saturday, January 31st, 28 year old Henry Haas was out cutting firewood when a tree he was cutting down fell and hit him from behind. He was alone at the time but somehow managed to get his cell phone out of his pocket while still pinned under the tree and was able to call for help. Emergency personnel responded very quickly and got the tree off of him. MedFlight then transported him to Gundersen in LaCrosse. Although Henry was classified as being in stable condition, his injuries were very serious and extensive. These injuries included multiple breaks in the L2-L5 vertebrae in his lower back, pelvis fractures in multiple places, a lacerated liver, 4 broken ribs, a torn pectoral muscle, and a fractured shoulder blade. Henry underwent 4 different surgeries to fix these vast amounts of injuries. He will be unable to walk for a total of 12 weeks due to the pelvic injuries he sustained. Henry spent 24 days in the hospital. He is now at home where he can begin to fully recover from these injuries. Once he is able to stand and walk he will begin rehabilitation to gain back the strength he has lost during this injury.
